Vitamin reminder app for iPhone that you can answer from the notification
Most people do not need a better reminder. They need a reminder that can be finished at the moment it arrives, instead of one that turns into a small task for later.
Why the standard iPhone alarm stops working after two weeks
Setting a repeating alarm for your vitamins works beautifully for about ten days. Then a specific failure sets in, and it is always the same one: the alarm fires while your hands are busy, you dismiss it intending to take the capsule in a minute, and the minute never arrives. Nothing recorded the intention, so nothing chased it, and by evening you genuinely cannot remember whether you took it.
The alarm was not the weak part. The gap between the alert and the record was.
What closes that gap
- Buttons on the notification. Supplement Streak attaches three actions to every reminder: Taken, Skip, and Snooze 15 min. Pressing Taken writes the intake to your log from the Lock Screen. The app never has to open.
- A snooze that is honest. Snooze reschedules the same reminder a quarter of an hour later rather than clearing it. It is the option for "not right now", and it means "not right now" no longer silently means "never".
- Skip as a first-class answer. Skipping on purpose is a real outcome, and recording it keeps your history truthful. A log that only contains successes is a log you will stop believing.
- One reminder per time, not per app. Each supplement carries its own list of daily times, so a magnesium capsule at night and a vitamin D capsule at breakfast are two separate reminders rather than one lumped alert you learn to ignore.
- A reminder for the bottle, not just the dose. Give a supplement a stock count and a low-stock threshold and every logged intake counts it down. When it crosses the threshold you get a refill reminder, which catches the most boring failure mode there is: you did not skip, you simply ran out.
Reminders that never show up
If notifications are not arriving, the cause is almost never the app. Check these three, in order:
- Permission. Settings, then Notifications, then Supplement Streak. Allow Notifications on, Lock Screen and Banners on.
- Scheduled Summary and Focus. Scheduled Summary batches notifications and delivers them later, which is precisely wrong for a dose reminder. Exclude the app from it, and check that your Focus modes allow it through.
- A supplement with no time. A supplement saved without any daily times has nothing to schedule. Open it in the Stack tab and add at least one.
Because reminders are scheduled locally by iOS rather than pushed from a server, they also fire in airplane mode and with no signal at all.
The part after the reminder
Every answered reminder darkens a square
The reason the buttons matter is what they feed. Each Taken counts towards the day, and a day where you took everything you planned fills its square completely on the consistency heatmap. That is the loop: notification, one tap, a visible mark. Nothing else in the app asks anything of you.
